Asleep In The Boat

While reading through the book of Jonah we run across a senerio where Yahweh has caused a great storm to come crashing against the boat in which Jonah was in. This storm was sent by Yahweh to get Jonah's attention. The storm was so bad that the ship "threatened" to break right in the middle of the sea. The sailors who manned the ship were frightened and they knew this wasn't an ordinary storm. They began to call out the their gods in hope that some divine intervention would take place and they would be saved.

But where's Jonah? I mean after all he is responsible for all of this. While everyone is frantic and throwing cargo overboard, Jonah is in the boat asleep.

Isn't this some times the tale of our very own lives. God is pursuing after us. He grace is calling for us to come to Him even when we have chosen to "flee". Instead of humbly submitting ourselves to His work in our hearts, we go to the bottom of the "ship" to hide as if we are unaware of what's going on.

Instead of hiding and sleeping let's us trust that the same grace that has saved us is the same grace that will keep us. Let us be completely exposed before God and trust Him to continously change and transform us.

God is pursuing after you, all of you. Don't run from Him, run to Him today!

....Get up, sleeper, and rise up from the dead, and Christ will shine on you. Ephesians 5:14 CSB
