Expectations for Youth Ministry

In any leadership role in a ministry, setting clear expectations is crucial. This is especially
true for youth teachers and workers in church settings. Unless the youth director lays out
those expectations from the start, he or she should not expect the youth workers to meet them.
From a spiritual aspect, the youth director, teachers, and workers, must be a follower of Jesus Christ.
Youth director, teachers and workers are expected to attend church worship service regularly, be on time, and be committed to our youth ministry.
Youth leaders and workers time with God is reflected in their approach to ministry. If we are growing in the Word of God, it will be evident in our youth ministry.
Leaders are expected to do whatever is needed to help students engage in a solid relationship with God.
Youth leaders who have the best relationships with students are the ones who try to support every youth event such as fundraisers, school events, etc.
If a student express being hurt, may hurt themselves or someone else, let them know that you’ll need to inform the Pastor of these cases immediately.
Do not set up a one-on-one meeting with a child without the knowledge and consent of their parents. Instead, let the student or parents be the initiators of a private meeting.
Never transport a child anywhere alone without parental consent. Arrange to have another adult or student ride with you.
Build relationships with parents.
Youth leaders and workers need to talk with students’ parents to build a solid relationship with them. Always remember that parents are the main spiritual influencers in their children's life. What happens at home is more important than what happens at church. The church and the parents must partner together to raise children to follow Christ.
Youth Ministry Benefits
Youth leaders and workers get the opportunity to invest God in the students, the nursery babies and their parents that will forever change their walk with Jesus for the better.
